Today Christina, the girls and I were able to spend the afternoon with our dear friends, the Chinns. They are WorldVenture missionaries who have been in Ghana, Africa for the last four years. They’re stateside for awhile just in time for us to get some really helpful insights and encouragement from them before we head off to Hungary.
We had a great time of relaxed conversation, and simple food (lots of kids around). It was just what we needed before leaving to explore what may be our great adventure in Hungary. Lloyd and I met in 2003. He was my professor for the Christian Leadership portion of my undergrad degree. His genuine love for Christ and deep yearning to see the church be the beautiful bride Jesus desires caught my attention from the first day. I kept him after class many nights. Somewhere in all of that we found a kinship and became good friends. It was only a matter of time before Christina and Jan were introduced and as Lloyd puts it, “They’re the same person.” Their friendship to us has been an abiding blessing.
Their sons, Joseph and Jeremy were able to be home with them. This is a real treat as they were separated for awhile so that each could get the education they needed, which isn’t available 7 hours into the African desert. So we talked and the Chinn boys taught our girls soccer and played with them like big brothers. The Lord’s grace indeed.
